How?

To explain, a little Internet history helps. The Internet was founded during the 70s by some scientists (most of us would say Nerds) with the idea of creating a global community to share information over an electronic communications system (now the Internet). This group focused on three points:

• Building tight knit communities,

• Sharing information, and

• Open communication

Until now, this information has been the bane of local community and business. Not surprisingly, those who could afford the best “nerds” had the greatest success. Go figure?! The most successful were even started by “Nerds”. Only Nerds would name their companies “Google” or “Amazon”.

Luckily, the founders of Linkytown came from small towns, and went off to college to become “Nerds” themselves. In another stroke of fate, they bought a small town business and became victims of the local community Internet problem. At first, they were dumbfounded. Was it not possible to use the all-powerful Internet to find local customers?! It turns out that it wasn’t possible . . . then. But it is today! Linkytown is the result of that effort.

Without goring and boring you with the details, Linkytown takes advantage of the Internet’s bias for community, shared information, and community and makes it LOCAL. No longer does a business or local group have to compete as a little guy against national chains. Instead, the power of the local community is bound together creating Local Community Power.
